The Supreme Court in India has turned down request from insurers for more time to develop a mobile app for use by victims of road accidents nationwide. The delays and untold hardship victims of motor accident claims go through has led to the case brought against insurers going all the way to the Supreme Court. During the hearing, the court said that insurance companies were playing games about developing a mobile application that will hasten claims payment nationwide.
The court however ruled that if insurance companies fail to develop the app, they will call on the government to develop an app which will be imposed on insurance companies.
Nearly 25% of over 736,000 cases with motor accidents claims tribunal have been delayed for over two decades.
