SOUTH KOREA TEST-RUN PILOT PROJECT ON REIMBURSEMENT FOR HEALTH INSURANCE FOR HERBAL MEDICINE.
Nigeria with abundant herbal medicine practitioners can borrow a leaf from the government of south korea who is running a pilot health insurance project which reimburses the cost of herbal medicine despite opposition from western-trained medical community.
The south korea ministry of health and welfare will spend $136million on the three year nation wide project.
Under the pilot scheme, reimbursements are in respect of three illnesses;
- Facial nerve paralysis
- Cerebrovascular diseases side effects for people aged 65 & above and lastly menstrual pain.
Government will reimburse 50% of the drug price (herbal) used for the three illnesses once a year for 10 days administrations and twice a year for five days administrations.
