POLAND: Indemnities for floods paid in under 24h

Recent floods from intensive rainfall in southern Poland resulted in massive mobilization from local authorities and insurance companies. Insurers took special measured to make claims liquidation faster and easier for those affected by the weather conditions.

Insurance companies, like PZU, Warta, Generali, ERGO, AXA, LINK4, UNIQA, TU Europa, Condordia, TUW “TUW” or Aviva, have increased the number of helpline personnel able to deal with incoming phone calls from victims; local insurers are also validating the claims based only on photos sent by the victims, without inspection from specialized insurance appraisers being necessary at all. Insurers said that in many cases the claims were settled in less than 24h after the damages were reported.

PZU Group is prepared to pay an advance sum of PLN 2,000 for each customer affected by the natural events and is running a special hotline of about 50 consultants dedicated to the flood victims. Aviva said they are receiving twice as many claims as usual, and to speed up the process of claims liquidation, many formalities have been eliminated, minor damages being settled after one simple phone call and photo evidence…
