Moroccans as at the end of 2017 had created 68,259 businesses in Italy, the largest number of companies run by foreigners in the peninsula.
This was revealed in a recent report released by the Italian Federation of Chambers of Commerce (UnionCamere).
The Moroccans are closely followed by the Chinese that have created 52,075 businesses to clinch second position.
Other African countries also ranked include Senegal with 19,494. Egypt 18,612 and Tunisia 14,668 businesses.
According to the report, as at 31st December 2017, 590,000 Italy-based companies are run by foreigners.
This number represents one in every 10 companies in Italy run by a foreigner is significantly increasing compared to national average.
